Wyndham Garden : Metarie, LA : Sept 2016

When we were in New Orleans this is where we stayed. Wyndham Garden Inn. It was a mile away from the airport. Location was awesome!

There was a balcony that over looked the pool sadly enough we didn't swim. I got the reservation from the Wyndham website. There was confusion about payment. after I booked the hotel online I saw a charge on my account but once I got to the hotel they told me it wasn't paid for.  So of course I call Chase and they tell me that Wyndham has a certain amount of days to accept the payment and they didn't. I think its a little of Chase and Wyndham's fault.  After we squared that away we were good.

The lobby of this hotel was beautiful. I have pictures of it somewhere. Hopefully i find them before this post posts.

MOOYAH: September 2016

While the Chubbs and I were in Metarie/ New Orleans we tried to eat at places weve never been before. On Verterans theres a restaurant named MOOYAH. I love the name.

The booths had outlets to charge your phone or plug in a laptop!
I know I shouldn't be so excited about this but how freaking considerate. You know most places offer wifi but don't have enough plugs so you can actuall sit and do work or homework.

My burger was amazing ! The fries were  good too. But I got a little aggressive with the salt/ garlic shaker and it dumped out on my burger. So I had a WELL seasoned burger.

The atmosphere of this restaurant was pretty cool too. I cant wait to come back!

Top 5

The other night i was scrolling through Hulu.
i never do that but I'm glad i did.  i discovered that you can watch movies. Yes i know this is sad because I've had hulu an entire year and had no idea.
i came across Top Five and i vaguely remember someone telling me they didn't like it so i decided to watch for myself..

Top Five is HILARIOUS.
I've always liked Chris Rock. He has dry humor that i really enjoy. Plus this cast is a bunch of heavy hitters!

Reasons why i love this movie...
Theres a character in the movie who loves big girls and i don't think that "guy" in movies are ever represented.
Hot sauce tampon
Date being close to screwing

Brown Sugar

"When did you first fall in love with Hip-Hop?"
I fell in love with music and " the arts" at a young age. I was always aware that I would never produce these things but I appreciated others talents.

I've always loved TV & movies. From a very young age I used them to escape  from my surroundings. The first tv I bought I was btw- 12-14. It  was a Sullivan. 9/13 inch tv with the combo vhs player for a whopping  $109  from SAMS. This purchase  quite possibly was the first tv I ever had in my room.

When I moved out at 17 I  brought that tv with me . It was def a talking point of my house because it was so small. Everyone would laugh because they knew how into movies and TV I was but didn't understand how I could enjoy it on such a small screen.

One of the first movies I bought was Brown Sugar I'd seen it on tv a couple times and it just made me feel a way that I could never describe .

I watched Brown Sugar a couple weeks ago for the first time since living in our house, and it  still gives me that tingling feeling. Classic 90s/ early 2000 love story. Boy meets girl, girl knows she's in love in boy but can't allow herself to really fall in love with boy. Then boy falls in love with the wrong woman. Girl shrugs off feelings and tries to focus on another boy. And without giving away the entire movie I'm just going to stop there.

If you are into love. Or if you love Hip Hop, anything 2000s , a fan of Taye Diggs or Sanaa Lathan
go find this movie and watch it.

50 Shades of Grey+Book Review+ E. L. James

If you know me, you that  i am someone who does not like to hop on bandwagons. I've been reading erotica (smut, romance novels) since I was in high school. So when I learned what 50 Shades of Grey was about  natural it sparked my interest. But before I decided to purchase it I realized that everyone was reading it. When I say everyone I really mean 50-80 year old women are reading it out in public and discussing it like its todays paper. I found that odd and did not want to be reading something my grandmother would find arousing.

Fast forward to 2014 there's a rumor the book will be made into a movie. The masses are upset because of the people who are starring in the movie aren't as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as they would like them to be. The movie was released on Valentines Day 2015. I find that absolutely repulsive. Because sex does not equal love and there are millions of women around the world who think it is . A couple weeks later my friend Mindy convinced me to go to the movies with her. to see it And after  sitting in the theater for 2 hours the only thing that excited me was the soundtrack. ( y'all heard that music!)

A couple months ago i downloaded the Overdrive app and started adding books to my wish list. I decided to add the 50SOG series to the app.  just to see what its really about. A month ago i received an email that alerted me that the book was ready to be downloaded. So I did.

If I had to describe this book in 1 word it would be preposterous.  The  main female character, Anna Steele, is not a real life person. At the age of 21, there are very very very few virgins without religious reasoning. And even then things like kissing & masturbation are often done instead of intercourse. I do not believe a virgin of any age would partake in any of the activities that Anna did willingly especially in such a quick fashion.

From my personal experience I did not feel personal pleasure for some years so for Anna to understand what was happening to her and how to get there so quickly is unrealistic. All in all I feel as if the book is about an abused controlling wealthy man that prayed on a poor young virgin & turned her life upside down. He enticed her by his powerful demeanor & the dangling of her heart that he puppeted  ( not a real word but its fitting- to be used at ones willing ) at his leisure.

The audio version narrator read Christian & Anna's parts. Which made me unable to really connect with the characters independently. Once you get passed that you realized that the book was poorly written. The same adjectives to describe numerous things. I remember delicious being used on every page. But at the same time the characters are very smart and use words that the average person would not use in conversation.  Explain that ?

Will I read the next books? Probably, because I want to know how the trilogy ends. Maybe it gets better? Maybe we will get a real understanding as to why Christian is the way he is and maybe Anna will grow some balls and tell Christian to go screw off.

Which Which+ Restaurant Review

Which Which is a restaurant that's been around for a while. We currently do not have a Which Which near my home town but a town I visit frequently has had it for a while.  This restaurant was very laid back. There was only one other person visiting when we walked in. ( good for us but not for business)

They have WiFi which is helpful in this day and age and there was no attack when you walk in the door. ( I appreciate that) The restaurant was very clean.( that gets you 3 points right there!)

So you walk up and to the left their a wall. Now this could be very confusing at first because you see the wall and you see a register. Luckily we used our noggin and went to the wall first. You get a bag and  mark  what you want on your sandwich . Then you take your bag to the register and  go over it with the cashier.  Minutes later your name is called .
I got a turkey club. ( IT WAS SOO GOOD) with honey mustard and cheddar ruffles ( anyone seen the new bag? eeck)

Overall it was a very  pleasant experience.
 Check out that wall art!

I lost 15 lbs!

Guys don't be mad I have posts sitting in the queue waiting for me to finish them.. This is one of them.
On Sept 23 I went to see a nutritionist. I figured out that what I eat isn't good and no matter what kind of diet I get on it isn't going to change the fact that I'm fat.
I called my insurance company, Cigna, to see who I had in my network and of course there was no one in network.
According to the rep I could just pay it upfront and let them reimbursement.
Then I went to good old google to see who there was in my area. I ran across someone that I had actually heard of before call Andi Holyfield. I went to her website (which is now a lot more fancier than what it was in Sept.) I sent her my information to contact me and she contacted me within 24 hours.
So as I'm losing wait I am thinking about a list of things I want . So every 15 lbs I lose I wanted to get myself a gift.
1st- 15 ( woot woot) was foundation.

Can you guys tell a difference? I most certainly can.
I left out of Ulta with Hello Flawless Benefit liquid foundation. (nutmeg) Let me tell you how good my face feels and looks with this foundation on... AMAHAZING... I cant even fell it on my face and it blends in so well with my skin color. Now I have combination skin. So some of its dry and some of it is oily. This foundation did not irritate my face not one bit. After the first day I wore it I went to amazon and bought the powder foundation too. ( I was looking for a deal $22 later..)
I got all types of compliments for how nice my skin looked.

The 1st pic is au natural 2nd primer its NYX 3rd hello flawless 4th the whole shebang!
I did ask the MUA for a cheaper brand of foundation and she recommended NYX .

You're welcome

Manetabolism : The catch up

Hey guys! I'm going to take a mini break from my video Manetabolism updates . If you miss the first 2 click here & here .
This is a picture of me from August. As you can tell my fro was getting really tall and if I would have bent my head over you would see all the Carmel in my head. ( great color but there was more dyed than the tips of my bangs which made me look like an early 2000s Eminem.)

Here is a couple days after September when I went to get my hair trimmed. I came out looking like a little boy. I know I know I am apparently the queen of getting bad hair cuts but let me tell you guys I took this one a whole lot better than the other 2 times I got a little too much cut off. Literally you could not pull a curl from my head. Majority of my caramel was cut out also.

Luckily I had already started taking Manetabolism  .

These two pictures are  from December. Guys this stuff is a miracle. I got a small trim in November to correct the hair cut I received but these vitamins have really kept my hair healthy and you can see that my hair has gotten longer and thicker. I follow Mane choice on instagram and they had an amazing 40% off sale ( which broke their server that's how good their products are) I got a 4 month supply. And I cant even imagine what my hair is going to look like when  I am done with it. I am hoping they will have another sale by that time so I can stock up again.
Check out Man Choice Manetabolism!

Movie review: Into the Storm

Into the Storm (2014) Poster

When I saw the previews for this movie I was thinking oh a modern day Twister . Do we really need to rehash the depressing story that happened in that movie? And I don't know what made me drag my other half out to the movies to see but I am glad I we went. This is most def an emotional movie. At one point JMN was covering his eyes because it was just that action packed.

I do not know any of the cast but they all did a really good job. I remember after watching the movie it made me feel thankful that my family and I have not had to go through something as terrifying as a tornado . Also sad for the families who have been.

Book Review ++ A Wanted Woman++ Eric Jerome Dickey

I came across the book on Amazon. I was looking for a book on tape. As you can see via the review tab on my blog I haven't read a book in some time. With work and trying to study for the GRE I haven't had any time.  Eric Jerome Dickey is one of my favorite writers I started reading his work in the 10th grade. You can check out my last review on some of his work Here .
Audible has a 30 day audio book trial. You can try 1 book for 30 days . After that you can continue your membership for $20 a month for unlimited books or cancel. I canceled my membership after reading/ listening to A Wanted Woman.

It took me about 4 days to listen to this book. Many nights I went to sleep with this book playing in my ears. it was very relaxing and it was no problem to restart where left off. The narrators were very clear and easy to understand. And they didn't take away from your imagination of how you would picture someone's speech or demeanor. At least not from me.

This book started off a little slow. Basically a little girl who was taken away from her school by a man she did not know who claimed to be her father. Her mother was murdered by the wife of their preacher that her mother had been sleeping with for some time now.
The girl really had no clue who her father was and the school officials allowed him to take her out of school and take her across country. Her fathers name was Reaper. He was a contract killer. He would take her to school everyday do his business pick her up in the afternoons do homework then teach her how to workout and defend herself. This happened everyday unless he had to go out of town to handle business.

Finally the little girl grew older and decided she wanted to work for the family business and her father got her in. Then he disappeared.

I don't want to give away all of what happened in the book but lets just say everything does not always go as planned. It is so easy to change who you are to mask your real identity. This book taught me that. Also it makes me fearful to travel out of the United States to some of the places that American may call peaceful and relaxing.  Because we have no idea how their culture works and although the people who might serve us are nice and accommodating they might not always feel that way and also you have no idea who is watching you.

There are so good fights in this book. Eric Jerome Dickey is very detailed when it comes to explaining a situation , he makes it seem like you are front row center watching everything that occurs. There are 2 parts of the book that I really did not enjoy . If you are a seasoned Eric Jerome Dickey reader one of the most repeated/ most noted is the characters sexuality or sexual encounters.  This book has a serious lack of sex. There might have been 2 scenes. I am not use to this and according to Good Reads neither is anyone else .
The second that I did not like about this book is there is a very explicit rape scene. I do not know how someone prepares themselves for writing and reading a rape scene. I feel like there might have been some preparing for this scene that would rub others the wrong one. By no means am I saying that he raped someone . Goodness no but maybe watching hardcore porn or it could be as simple as knowing someone who has been through a similar situation.  I thinking if I would have been actually reading this book I would have put it down or skipped it.

Overall  I enjoy writers who are consistent in material. And I believe Eric Jerome Dickey was rehashing the trilogy that wrote that so many fans fell in love with a couple years ago.  Although I loved those books this one I didn't quite fall into the same place.

The twenty-first novel from New York Times bestselling author Eric Jerome Dickey, a steamy thriller set in tropical Barbados

She is a woman of a thousand faces, an assassin who could be anyone, anywhere.

The Trinidad contract was supposed to be simple: to make a living man become a dead man. When the job goes bad under the watchful eye of a bank security camera, there is nowhere for agent MX-401, known as Reaper, to hide from the fearsome local warlords, the Laventille Killers.

Her employers, the Barbarians, send her to Barbados, the next island over, barely two hundred miles away, with the LK’s in hot pursuit of the woman who took many of their own. With the scant protection of a dank safe house, no passport, and no access to funds, an island paradise becomes her prison.

While she trawls for low-profile assignments to keep her skills sharp and a few dollars in her pocket, Reaper discovers that family ties run deep, on both sides of the fight. Will the woman everyone wants, who has lived countless lives in the service of others, finally discover who she really is?

In A Wanted Woman, New York Times bestselling author Eric Jerome Dickey delivers an adrenaline-pumping rush of a read.

Movie Review: Let's be Cops

 Let's Be Cops (2014) Poster
Staring Jake Johnson & Damon Wayans Jr

Let me tell you. I would have never seen this movie if it wasn't for my other half. We were actually going to the movies to see Sex tape but had a ridiculous amount of time before it started. I knew he wanted to see Lets be Cops and I striked a bargain with him and we got to see both movies.

I am not familiar with Jake Johnson. And I only know Damon Wayanas Jr existed because I mean... his name is Damon Wayans Jr. Who doesn't know who is father, uncles and aunt are. ( side eye if you are having to google this)

On to the review....
This movie is unrealistic. I think the "P" word was stated too many times to count. And that movies like this give regular people ideas that they could actually pull this off in real life. There's drugs, and I think some boobs ( always...) This movie is def for the male who sits at home and scratches his balls all day with a video game controller in the other hand.

Paraguard IUD

About 45 days ago I decided to get an IUD (intrauterine device) that would be an easy solution for birth control.
I have tried just about every pill regular and generic , condoms, patches, pull out etc.
Let's face it I'm 26 years old and I am not ready to push out a kid. So in order to not have to ever think about if I will continue to be kid free I had to do something about it.

I've been researching IUDs for a couple years now . But due to insurance not wanting to cover it or help me out I chose other directions . This year when I got my yearly I decided I was going to try again and see if my insurance decided to cover it and what do you know ?! They covered  it at 100%. You can not imagine how excited I was .

The doctors office ordered it and they told me to come in on the lightest day of my period.  ( side eye) .When I got there they took me into this seriously scary 1970s operation room where I was asked to get naked and cover my top with that stupid paper like gown. I mean if you get a girl naked at least offer me a piece of chocolate or a beer first ? Geez

My Gyn is very old school. I mean he never looks me in the eye, which I kind if feel a little weary about but whatever . He had his RN with him because he's smart and doesn't have time for any lawsuits . He told me about precautions and insertion. And he  washed and gloved up( because I don't play that mess) . He told me it would feel like a cramp. Unlucky/lucky me had no idea what a cramp felt like so when he inserted this device it felt like he had a wooden straw pushing it up against the wall of my uterus . I have a high tolerance for pain but let me tell you it was most definitely a 6/10 on the pain scale.

It took me about an hour to recover( no longer hurt or feel weird) and he told me to return next month.

 Sorry for the uncropped photos.

Movie Review : Sextape

Staring Cameron Diaz &Jason Segal ( who has lost a lot of weight since 4 year engagement)
:: Spoiler::
This movie was sooo funny. I think a lot of people can relate. Most married couples once they have children get so wrapped up in day to day life that they forget to " get it" . The storyline is real tangible. it could happen to anyone. Basically their sex tape is synced onto  " the cloud" and Jason Segals character gives a bunch of their friends and family used iPads' and it gets synced to everyone's. They try to collect all of them back before anyone notices what's on them.

Orange is the new black ++ Piper Kerman++ Book Review

I picked up this book at Target one night after hearing some friends tell me about the TV show on Netflix and they thought I would like it. I was trying to get back into my reading fix and thought I would take a break from my normal smut novels.  I read majority of this book in week. It wasn't that interesting. The best parts of this book was Piper speaking about her life as a smugger and the introduction of the new inmates.
Will I watch this show? No
Would some steamy inmate sex have made this book better? Yes
Is Piper Kerman a lucky girl for having to only serve 13 months? Yes
Did this book open your eyes to unfair treatment of prisoners? ehh
Did you cry when her grandma passed away? YES
Do you recommend this book to anyone ? NO
