Paraguard IUD

About 45 days ago I decided to get an IUD (intrauterine device) that would be an easy solution for birth control.
I have tried just about every pill regular and generic , condoms, patches, pull out etc.
Let's face it I'm 26 years old and I am not ready to push out a kid. So in order to not have to ever think about if I will continue to be kid free I had to do something about it.

I've been researching IUDs for a couple years now . But due to insurance not wanting to cover it or help me out I chose other directions . This year when I got my yearly I decided I was going to try again and see if my insurance decided to cover it and what do you know ?! They covered  it at 100%. You can not imagine how excited I was .

The doctors office ordered it and they told me to come in on the lightest day of my period.  ( side eye) .When I got there they took me into this seriously scary 1970s operation room where I was asked to get naked and cover my top with that stupid paper like gown. I mean if you get a girl naked at least offer me a piece of chocolate or a beer first ? Geez

My Gyn is very old school. I mean he never looks me in the eye, which I kind if feel a little weary about but whatever . He had his RN with him because he's smart and doesn't have time for any lawsuits . He told me about precautions and insertion. And he  washed and gloved up( because I don't play that mess) . He told me it would feel like a cramp. Unlucky/lucky me had no idea what a cramp felt like so when he inserted this device it felt like he had a wooden straw pushing it up against the wall of my uterus . I have a high tolerance for pain but let me tell you it was most definitely a 6/10 on the pain scale.

It took me about an hour to recover( no longer hurt or feel weird) and he told me to return next month.

 Sorry for the uncropped photos.
