Single Saturdays+ BIg Sean Jhene Aiko + OTW

"On The Way"(feat. Big Sean & Jhené Aiko)

[Chorus - Big Sean & Jhene Aiko:]
Brrrp
I been, I been working all night now I need to hear you call my name
Where you at? On the way
How far? On the way
P** pop is on the way
How far we take it? All the way
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
I been going all day and now I need to hear you say my name
Where you at? On the way
How far? On the way
P*** popping on the way
How far we going? All the way
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah

[Verse 1 - Big Sean:]
I just hit the errr up on the freeway
Switching lane to lane to lane speed racing
I can't lie that ass is on my mind you know
I swear that pussy like that hard to find you know it's mine fo sho
Savor, let it savor
Drinking liquor, no chaser
Then I chase ya
Around the bed and then taste ya
I'm gon' taste ya
Yeah I make the reservation then I give you D
D for dedication
Got that bomb p** it just detonated
I'm your designated
Sex drive you to the destination
Lingerie my favorite decoration
I need hennessy for that preparation
I hit the pussy with an exclamation I'm so spoiled
God damn you so loyal
Put you on camera that's my favorite show
Girl I rushed here just to take it slow

[Chorus - Big Sean & Aiko:]
I been working all night and now I need to hear you call my name
Where you at? On the way
How far? On the way
P** popping on the way
How far we take it? All the way
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
I been going all day and now I need to hear you say my name
Where you at? On the way
How far? On the way
P*** popping on the way
How far we going? All the way
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah

[Verse 2 - Jhene Aiko:]
I don't need nobody else
Oh you got me on the wave
Yearning for your loving baby
I need that shit everyday
Cause you know this ain't made for, for nobody but you you
You don't need nobody else
Is you trying to see me later
Sending pictures from my phone and flooding up your data base
Cause I don't be waiting for, for nobody but you
Ok my baby now look what you started
You got me laying straight back with my legs in the air while my back is still arching

[Bridge - Big Sean & Jhene Aiko:]
Yeah I like how you talking but that talking better turn to action as soon as I walk in yeah
Watching you come is so easy but watching you go I swear it's the hardest
I want it the hardest

[Chorus - Big Sean & Jhene Aiko:]
I been working all night now I need to hear you call my name
Where you at? On the way
How far? On the way
P*** pop is on the way
How far we take it? All the way
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
I been going all day and now I need to hear you say my name
Where you at? On the way
How far? On the way
P**** popping on the way
How far we going? All the way
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah

[Outro - Big Sean & Jhene Aiko:]
We stress
We grind
One time
Three times
You time
Me time
We time
We roll
Tree time
Rewind
Late night
Be mine
Yeah, and you know that's for sure
I clear the schedule so you know that's a go
Ok

The straight struggle

I woke up in the wonderful city of Metarie, La. ( 9.16.16) The first thing I did was grab my phone and  check to see what happened over night. BallerAlert had a clap back  post regarding Marc Jacobs NYFW. In this show his models wore dreads. According to the readers there were a lot of Caucasians featured wearing  this hairstyle.

The topic of appropriation has come up recently a lot in the media. I don't really hear it so much in the community that I live in, but that doesn't mean that it isn't worth speaking on.

I'm only 28. There was a lot of things that were decided, accomplished, and changed before I even entered the world. I no doubt believe that I have been sheltered from a lot of things and people.

Please keep in mind.
I can only represent myself.
Respect that I have opinions that may vary from your own.

The first time I knew there was a difference in black girls and in white girls hair techniques was around the 2nd grade. I was on a school bus heading out on a field trip. One of my classmates, L, had pigtails. I'm not sure why this stood out to me but I told her if she had a third pony tail our hair would like. L said, " I'm not Black"  And I told her okay and.... The look on her face changed and she changed the subject.

That moment always stood out in my mind.
Because I'm black we can't have the same hairstyles?

Fast forward to about ehhhh 2 years ago.

I kept hearing this term, appropriation. I had  no idea what it meant   Then I watched Amandla Sternberg's  Don't Cash Crop my Cornrows , different articles, YouTube reactions etc. that followed.

I wear my hair natural. Meaning that I wear it in its natural state. I try to minimize heat and harmful products.  There are a lot of people who think that natural hair is unprofessional. They believe that   your hair has to be in a certain way to gain respect from others.

Clearly that is a lie.

A lot of people think straight hair is beautiful.  I struggle with that thought myself.  I straighten my hair when I want to feel pretty. So I associate straight hair with being pretty.  WHERE on earth did I get that? Because my hair has always been curly. There's been texture to my hair that took a process to be straighten.

The Kardashian/ Jenner's get a lot of flack for appropriating black culture period. I've said it before, I enjoy watching them because I feel like I am watching apart of my family. I think that's why I like them so much because they give me a sense of familiarity.  I don't think about them being half Caucasian  and half Armenian. I see that their friends look like my friends, they party, they have families, they fight, they struggle with depression, anxiousness, weight problems,  clothing struggles, vacations, etc.

The only problem that I have is that women of black culture aren't allowed to wear and be who they are because others feel that isn't appropriate. But others of another race can do the same thing  and its " high fashion" or a new trend.

 Culture Vultures are a real!

If there wasn't a gap  in acceptance and understanding  I don't think there would be a problem.

I personally think there is appropriation across all cultures. Especially in America. We are truly a melting pot.  When you think about wigs, weaves, hair dye, tanning, waxing, brows, butt injections, implants, etc.  All of these things represent a particular culture and now women pick and choose what they want to look like. There's not one person who is born with thick thighs, a small waist, jet black straight hair, with light eyes, and plump lips These are all different types of heritages copied and pasted.

I think acceptance of people no matter who they are should be recognized and appreciated.

The Kardashian/Jenner Apps: Kim

In true fan behavior, the first day the Kardashian/ Jenner apps were released I subscribed to Khloe & Kim's. At the time Khloe had risen to be my favorite Kardashian over Kim and as a legit fan I was really interested in the content they would show.

The best part of these apps are the live streaming . I love being at home and getting a ding to let me know their live or especially when I'm in the car for a long drive . It is so interesting to me to see their day to day lives. It must be the inner creeper in me.

There's a couple things I didn't like Kim's app. Now I love looking at all the amazing outfits she wears but I realized that her wardrobe  has really changed over the last couple of years and I'm not for it. For many reasons: I live in LA and I get a lot of inspiration for outfits from what I see on TV or IG. I don't hob nob with designers and honestly I could care less about Lou Boutin ( add fancy accent) or Giuseppe ( Did I spell that right ? Whatever) I want to see things that I can afford, and wear to Target when I leave work. There's is nothing that she posts that I can personally " copy".

Kim's "Glam" posts all look the same to me. Plus I think she's gorgeous without makeup.

The the live streams started to not work so they weren't on them. I canceled Kim's app after about a month or 2 because I wasnt interested in the content. I've kept Khloe's although  2/3 months into it  I started having serious problems with the app not allowing me to see the information for the paid members. I actually had to email the help desk a couple times and they were not the friendliest. I actually copied and pasted some stuff to Twitter to see if anyone was having the same issues I was having.  I really liked Kylies. I loved the  crib additions and her live streams. Plus she really does have a great sense of style.  I hate that it took forever got Kourtney's app to launch. I loved all of the decor and the organic recipes.  I never downloaded Kendall's. I might try hers soon. I feel like I will see more of them now that I have Snap chat and its free.

Why I'm falling out of love with Kim K

I've been following Kim and her family from the very beginning of their stardom and over the last 55 years , I recently just started to get a negative thought about her.  Actually since her app came out I realized more and more that she is not relatable. Nothing in her life mirrors mine. When I think about it really hard the  only things we have in common are that we are both apart of crazy families, and were married to attractive men........ Yep, that's it.

I use to envy her style, traveling the world, celebrity friendships, and just care free spirit. Lets not forget she's gorgeous.

You might be reading this blog and thing DUH Alisa, did you really think you had anything in common with KIM KARDASHIAN. And my response after thinking about it a second would  have to be no. But I think in a way I just looked up to her.

Season 11 of KUWTK, There was a lot of issues with Kim and Kris. When Kim talked to her I found myself shaking my head because of the way she was speaking to her mom. And from what I have gather from TV and social media she seems to be a pretty amazing mom.

Did anyone have her app in DEC?
There was one live stream with Caitlyn and Kim, they were baking cookies I believe and she was screaming about not being shown on camera. She had jus had Saint and personally I  thought that would have been a great opportunity to show the world that you don't have to be perfect after giving birth. But it seems as if she only wanted to be seen after the  baby weight or  gotten some rest from the long nights. For mothers out there going through the same thing  I think it would have been empowering for them to see her and find comfort in what being a new mother looks like. But by her saying no over and over not to show her makes me think shes embarrassed to not be " glammed" and thin everyday which honestly isn't real life for most of us fans.

Anyone feel me on this? Or am I crazy?

Also if I see one more jacket drapped over her shoulders I am going to scream. WHO DOES THAT?

Dedication Tour : Lil Wayne & Rae Sremmurd :: FEB 2016

I've seen Lil Wayne in concert a couple times. So when he was coming to a local city my friend Cathy & I decided to make a day trip and go see him. Tickets were reasonable and I actually knew the openers.
Rae Sremmurd was HYPE! I bought their album when it was on sale on iTunes when I saw Charlemagne ( Breakfast Club) give them a thumbs up on IG. They have a couple bangers and I appreciate any artist that can get the crowd hype enough to sing along on beat.

But when Lil Wayne came out .... the bass literally raddled our seats for about 2 hours. It was like we were sitting in a vibration chair. He did all his hits. I was pretty pleased and per usual I was rapping and shaking my behind in the seat. He brought out Mack Mane on one song ( but aint nobody checking for him).
It was kinda crazy when you looked out into the audience. You had the thugs, the hoes, small kids (what was their parents thinking), COUNTRY people, and the emo , goth type. I love seeing that because it really shows you how music touches everyone.

The Perfect Guy+Movie Review

Lately my cool gene has been slipping a little bit. When movies come out that I want to see I usually rush me and my other half to the movie theater 45 mins early to get a good seat on opening night . But since I have come down with the case of LOSER. I've been waiting until movies come out to RedBox.

Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy, & Morris Chestnut are the main cast in this movie. And it is bomb!
This movie teaches you how important it is to pay attention to the behaviors of the person your dating. Do they wig out often? If so when and why? Do you immediately allow people you've met to come to your home where they can pick up on your routines and know the people you love?

Watching this movie will make you think hard about getting to know others.

Music Review+ Kanye West+ The Life of Pablo

I LOVE THIS ALBUM!
I feel like this is the best CD Kanye has ever made. Well College Dropout and TLOP are running neck and neck.  I hate it that this album isn't going to get the recognition it deserves . I hope that Kanye never becomes discouraged from that also.

The only problem I have with TLOP is that I can't  own it. TLOP was introduced to the world on Tidal. I used a 30 day subscription to hear it. But after that was over I couldn't listen to it anymore. After a month I ended up subscribing to Tidal again.
So Kanye please find it in your heart to put out TLOP in Target or Walmart. It's way too good to not have in my personal collection forever.

I literally love all the songs on the album.

Music Review+ LoveJo2+ JoJo

There is nothing more irritating than to not be able to purchase music . Especially when its an artist you have been waiting to just drown yourself in their music  . If you frequent my blog you have come across a JoJo post. I love JoJo. And now that she has gotten situated with her new record label I expected her to just spit out music and get this thing going.  I know things don't work that way so I need to be more patient.
In December Jojo put out LoveJo2. This is the third mixtape she's put out. The first one I have been unable to access, I am still listening to the second as apart of my life's go to album. The third you can only listen to on Soundcloud. But I signed up just so I can put her on repeat.

I love remixes and remakes and JoJo never disappoints. I have been on youtube watching all the footage from her I am JoJo tour . I even tweeted to Jojo about releasing these tracks for purchase which is Huge for me because I never tweet.

If you need to get your entire life, listen to LoveJo2 via Soundcloud.

Music Review+ T R A P S O U L + Bryson Tiller

If you know me I treat new artist/ new music the same way I treat new people in my life. I usually put them off until I have to deal with them. And even then I am skeptical, taking it as slow as possible. {Unless its a guy } kidding..

It is not often that I talk about new artists. But Bryson Tiller is worthy of praise. His album cover to cover is a good body of work. I feel like the title of his album T R A P S O U L should be a genre not just an album title.  Clearly I don't relate to much of anything that he talks about on his album but I have been right along with it since October.

Music Review+ Fan of a Fan+ Chris Brown & Tyga

Despite Chris Brown's past he is undeniably talented. Which is why I continue to support his music. I am not 100% sure the meaning behind this album. I think I was too confused by his hair  and the album art. The album art reminds me of Kris Kross. Also when this album came out the only thing I knew about Tyga was he was on Young Money. Nothing else about him mattered. So I was not sure why Chris picked Tyga to make an album with. You know what, I take that back Tyga has been on some of his previous mixtapes. Tyga was on Deuces and if I am not mistaken that song won a Grammy.
Lyrically Chris Brown is better than most rappers. The beats on his songs make you want to get up and dance, have sex, then sleep. What else do you want from an artist?

I wish more singles would have been released. Bunkin is my favorite song on the album.

Music Review+ Hard Core+ Lil Kim

It's funny when you go back and listen to music from when you were a child. I didn't listen to Lil Kim as a kid. I honestly don't remember this album being played at all on the radio. The only song I can remember is Crush on you thanks to MTV. So one day I was on YouTube watching a 90's interview on Klassic Throwback and there was Missy ElliotFoxy Brown, Angie Martinez, and Lil Kim.  I went to Amazon and bought all of her albums. Don't worry I will space out all of the reviews.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM AROUND CHILDREN.
Just by the title I guess you can infer that it is going to be a little inappropriate. I apparently was not prepared. The intro is genius . I'm not going to ruin it for you. It is refreshing to hear a woman speak all the things that men put in their raps all the time. I wish their were more female rappers.
Also thank you Lil Kim for the interludes. New York culture is undeniable.

Crush on You

This album has 15 tracks+ I like 3/15 tracks+ love the interludes+ Love the intro, & she a female rapper.

Music Review+ Adele+ 25

There has been a lot of talk about Adele recently. Especially in the black community. I had a discussion with one of my friends husbands right after 25 was released . He asked me if I liked Adele. I told him yes. Then he asked if I thought she could sing and I said yes. Then he said do you think Adele can sing better than Jazmine Sullivan, Monica, or Brandy. I said no. Then he said my point exactly. Why is everyone praising an artist that has not topped any artist that have been apart of the game for 20 plus years? I told him I have no idea, but I am sure it has to do with the type of music she sings and the markabilty ( {new word} Markability: The ability to market the artist to mass crowds to  receive the most profit) of the artist.

Fast forward to a couple hours later when I was able to go to Target and buy Adele's album. I purchased the Target Deluxe version. From TX to LA I listen to 25 over and over. I love listening to music when I drive. I feel like I get the message clearer. Automatically I liked the album. My friend MaeMae ( shoutout) had already purchased the album and had been listening to it none stop.

There were songs I liked and some I could not live without from that day forward. I sung so much in that 4 hours I had a migraine and no voice when I got home.

Hello broke records! It was the first single to sell over a million copies. That is HUGE. There are albums that don't sell a million so for her single to sell over a million copies is remarkable. That accomplishment is something that should be acknowledge and celebrated  .

Now without taking away from the talent that she has; there are other artist who given the opportunity could sing her music and sound the same or even better. And that's the truth. Honestly, that's the truth in everything any talented individual does. For instance when you hear a remix or remake of a song and people eventually forget who the originally creator was because someone has blown it out the water.

I was hoping that there would a face off. Well maybe some friendly competition after the album came out. Maybe a female R & B artist would hop on the song and either add some lines or just sing it on. But that didn't happen.

Take your eyes off of me so I can leave
I'm far too ashamed to do it with you watching me
This is never ending, we have been here before
But I can't stay this time 'cause I don't love you anymore
Please stay where you are
Don't come any closer
Don't try to change my mind
I'm being cruel to be kind
I can't love you in the dark
It feels like we're oceans apart
There is so much space between us
Maybe we're already defeated
Ah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah everything changed me
You have given me something that I can't live without
You mustn't underestimate that when you are in doubt
But I don't want to carry on like everything is fine
The longer we ignore it all the more that we will fight
Please don't fall apart
I can't face your breaking heart
I'm trying…

When life gets real

A month or so ago I saw Kourtney Kardashian on Ellen in this amazing gold ensemble . Not too long after the show  I found her outfit on her app and was super excited to see where it came from . As I scrolled down the post I read about how Kylie bought this outfit for Kourtney for Christmas and I was thinking how sweet. Then I looked at the price . Holy Crap what 18 year old that you know can afford that ?!

Then I realized..... I'm not rich & famous

And this is how I was brought to reality ...

Music Review+ Selena Gomez+ Revival

Prepare yourself.
I am going to be doing lots of music reviews. I found 3 weeks ago I can rent CDs from the library! Can you believe it!?

Over the years I have heard of Selena Gomez from  Barney to Disney, and of course Justin Bieber's girlfriend. I am sure at some point I might have bobbed my head to some of her music that was on the radio but 2015 is actually when I paid attention to her.
Good for you & Same old love are the current singles. I even remember when her album art was released, everyone made a big deal about it because she was topless . Lots of people compared her to Britney Spears when she was making a distinction of no longer being the pop princess. Selena's album art is very tasteful. Honestly to me she still looks like a baby but hey that's just good genes. Selena is 23, so she is definitely grown and could be doing a lot worse in the world, so if she wants to show off a little back & shoulder then let her.

After listening to the album her beats reminds me of Jennifer Lopez music. Especially the song Body Heat. Some of the ad libs sound like Future. If you are a Rap fan you know exactly what songs I'm talking about. I really like the ASAP Rocky ft. on Good for you. That really surprised me because I hadn't heard it before. When  ASAP Rocky  first started rapping his voice reminded me of the 2000's Kanye.( LOVE Kanye) This album has a lot of emotion which was probably therapeutic for her.  I think Sober & Camouflage is about Justin Bieber. Or maybe that's what she wants us to think.

Favorite songs on the album

Good for you
Body Heat
Nobody
Perfect

                        "Perfect"
Different inflection when you say my name
Kiss me, but your kiss don't taste the same
Is it real or am I going out of my mind?
Curious 'bout the company that you keep
Cause I hear you talking 'bout her in your sleep
And now you've got me talking 'bout her in mine

Ooh, and I bet she has it all
Bet she's beautiful like you, like you
And I bet she's got that touch
Makes you fall in love, like you, like you

I can taste her lipstick and see her laying across your chest
I can feel the distance every time you remember her fingertips
Maybe I should be more like her
Maybe I should be more like her
I can taste her lipstick, it's like I'm kissing her, too
And she's perfect
And she's perfect

How does she touch you? Can I try it, too?
I know you're twisted, but baby, I'm twisted, too
I wanna know how she could make a man lose his mind

With the smell of her perfume
I could love her, too, like you, like you
And I can almost hear her laugh
Curving on her back for you, for you

I can taste her lipstick and see her laying across your chest
I can feel the distance every time you remember her fingertips
Maybe I should be more like her
Maybe I should be more like her
I can taste her lipstick, it's like I'm kissing her, too
And she's perfect

I can see her body rushing into you
Crashing on your skin
Burning within, burning so deep, deep
On your skin, skin next to me
She's crashing on your skin
Settling in, burning so deep, deep
On your skin, skin while you sleep, uh

I can taste her lipstick and see her laying across your chest
I can feel the distance every time you remember her fingertips
Maybe I should be more like her
Maybe I should be more like her
I can taste her lipstick, it's like I'm kissing her, too
And she's perfect

On the deluxe album there is 14 tracks. I like 4/14 songs + the 1 ft &  the album art.

Jackson, MS Spring Jam

So if you guys pay any attention to my blog posts you might remember     . I gave y'all false information! Somewhere along the lines I completely forgot about the concert I went to with Latoya in March 2015. I had to search my email just to clarify I wasn't crazy. Then I texted Latoya and was like didn't we go to a concert together? And she was like yeah. And I was like when? And why don't I have any videos or pictures? And she said my phone died or was dying so I couldn't record. I responded in my Tamar Braxton voice. WHAT DO YOU MEANNNNNN ( emphasis on the n) and she said she really didn't remember.
Shout out to my friend Latoya Smith who didn't cuss me out via text for losing my mind. Guys I know I took some type of pictures but I can not find them on my computer for the life of me. Blogosphere forgive me for majorly slacking on something I take pride in. ( bragging to the masses about seeing famous people)

Until this even I've never been to a concert in Jackson. So that was an experience in itself.
There was Keith Sweat who literally brought down the house. There was a big girl who was grinding it out to some Keith Sweat. And during his set he was asking who in the audience was going to get pregnant tonight. UHM Mr. Sweat I'm going to need you to slow your role homie.
Slick Rick was next. But I didn't know any of his music but the audience seemed to really like him.
Then their was Dru Hill. LOVEEEEED
SWV- I felt like they didn't stay on stage long enough.
And the last to go on was the lasting members of H -Town which the only song I can remember is Knockin Da Boots.

The majority of the crowd were older men and women. The best part of this concert were the people dressed in church attire bumping and grinding in the public.
If I find the videos Ill make sure that I make a post about.

Sex and the City: New York 2013

This post is my longest queued post EVER. Dec 2013
Every time I go to clean out my queue I open it but I could never put  "pen to paper".  This will probably be the most dramatic post I will ever write. And yet I have never started this post because I am deeply sadden on what I have to write. Which is absolutely ridiculous. As yall know I went to New York in Nov 2013 for my 26th birthday. In preparation for the City I re watched SATC just so I could take notes of all the places they went in the series. Because some where in my heart 6 & 1/2 years of SATC  was real life.

Let me back track the first time I ever saw  SATC I was in the 5th grade. It was one of those late nights where I wondered in the living room to watch TV and when I was flipping channels ( when HBO was channel 5) I saw what I now know is Samantha in a blue outfit sliding down a fireman's pole. ( Season three opener). I don't think I finished watching the rest of the episode but that image literally stuck with me for years. Between 5th grade and 10th grade I never saw another episode of SATC. But one day in 2004 a commercial popped up on TBS of Carrie prancing across my screen in a tutu and I recognized her face and something within me awaken.

June 2004 I was sitting in front of my TV watching this show like my life depended on it. I watched every episode on TBS. By college I owned every season. And since I did not have cable I watched this show just about everyday for 6 years straight. Over and Over and Over. To the point where I can recite the words the characters are about to say before they open their mouths to say it. So to say I was a fan is really an understatement.
When I went to New York I felt like I was finally meeting up with " friends" I had been watching their life pan out in front of me and I was coming in to catch up.
But as I started to tour the city I realized that things were not as they are perceived on TV. It really broke my heart for TV. That might be weird to say but when you think something hangs the moon and you realize the moon is independently hung it is crushing.

In the first episode of the first season of SATC, Carrie gives the address of 245 E 73rd Street, between Park and Madison. Lets just say after hours of walking in circles that did not exist . Luckily I had sense to google the address because I know I am not the only person that was looking for Carries apartment. Low and behold that's when I realized it was all a lie.
Google revealed that Carrie's apartment was really located in Greenwich Village on 66 Perry. By the time we made to there it was dark. There was a very nice elderly man that happened to be walking around his neighborhood. The area is now a elderly development. He stated that he had been living there for years and they have had several problems with unruly people coming and taking pictures on the stoop and because of this they had to rope it off. He said he has never watched the show and id he did he wasn't sure if he would want to come take a picture with a building. LOL

I have been trying to think of several ways to write this post for the past couple of years but i just didn't have the words to say it.   Oh reality...

Real & SATC

Top 5

The other night i was scrolling through Hulu.
i never do that but I'm glad i did.  i discovered that you can watch movies. Yes i know this is sad because I've had hulu an entire year and had no idea.
i came across Top Five and i vaguely remember someone telling me they didn't like it so i decided to watch for myself..

Top Five is HILARIOUS.
I've always liked Chris Rock. He has dry humor that i really enjoy. Plus this cast is a bunch of heavy hitters!

Reasons why i love this movie...
Theres a character in the movie who loves big girls and i don't think that "guy" in movies are ever represented.
Hot sauce tampon
Date being close to screwing

Brown Sugar

"When did you first fall in love with Hip-Hop?"
I fell in love with music and " the arts" at a young age. I was always aware that I would never produce these things but I appreciated others talents.

I've always loved TV & movies. From a very young age I used them to escape  from my surroundings. The first tv I bought I was btw- 12-14. It  was a Sullivan. 9/13 inch tv with the combo vhs player for a whopping  $109  from SAMS. This purchase  quite possibly was the first tv I ever had in my room.

When I moved out at 17 I  brought that tv with me . It was def a talking point of my house because it was so small. Everyone would laugh because they knew how into movies and TV I was but didn't understand how I could enjoy it on such a small screen.

One of the first movies I bought was Brown Sugar I'd seen it on tv a couple times and it just made me feel a way that I could never describe .

I watched Brown Sugar a couple weeks ago for the first time since living in our house, and it  still gives me that tingling feeling. Classic 90s/ early 2000 love story. Boy meets girl, girl knows she's in love in boy but can't allow herself to really fall in love with boy. Then boy falls in love with the wrong woman. Girl shrugs off feelings and tries to focus on another boy. And without giving away the entire movie I'm just going to stop there.

If you are into love. Or if you love Hip Hop, anything 2000s , a fan of Taye Diggs or Sanaa Lathan
go find this movie and watch it.

50 Shades of Grey+Book Review+ E. L. James

If you know me, you that  i am someone who does not like to hop on bandwagons. I've been reading erotica (smut, romance novels) since I was in high school. So when I learned what 50 Shades of Grey was about  natural it sparked my interest. But before I decided to purchase it I realized that everyone was reading it. When I say everyone I really mean 50-80 year old women are reading it out in public and discussing it like its todays paper. I found that odd and did not want to be reading something my grandmother would find arousing.

Fast forward to 2014 there's a rumor the book will be made into a movie. The masses are upset because of the people who are starring in the movie aren't as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as they would like them to be. The movie was released on Valentines Day 2015. I find that absolutely repulsive. Because sex does not equal love and there are millions of women around the world who think it is . A couple weeks later my friend Mindy convinced me to go to the movies with her. to see it And after  sitting in the theater for 2 hours the only thing that excited me was the soundtrack. ( y'all heard that music!)

A couple months ago i downloaded the Overdrive app and started adding books to my wish list. I decided to add the 50SOG series to the app.  just to see what its really about. A month ago i received an email that alerted me that the book was ready to be downloaded. So I did.

If I had to describe this book in 1 word it would be preposterous.  The  main female character, Anna Steele, is not a real life person. At the age of 21, there are very very very few virgins without religious reasoning. And even then things like kissing & masturbation are often done instead of intercourse. I do not believe a virgin of any age would partake in any of the activities that Anna did willingly especially in such a quick fashion.

From my personal experience I did not feel personal pleasure for some years so for Anna to understand what was happening to her and how to get there so quickly is unrealistic. All in all I feel as if the book is about an abused controlling wealthy man that prayed on a poor young virgin & turned her life upside down. He enticed her by his powerful demeanor & the dangling of her heart that he puppeted  ( not a real word but its fitting- to be used at ones willing ) at his leisure.

The audio version narrator read Christian & Anna's parts. Which made me unable to really connect with the characters independently. Once you get passed that you realized that the book was poorly written. The same adjectives to describe numerous things. I remember delicious being used on every page. But at the same time the characters are very smart and use words that the average person would not use in conversation.  Explain that ?

Will I read the next books? Probably, because I want to know how the trilogy ends. Maybe it gets better? Maybe we will get a real understanding as to why Christian is the way he is and maybe Anna will grow some balls and tell Christian to go screw off.
