Shopping at 1 am

Sometimes when  I am procrastinating  on sleep I shop online. One night in particular, I ended up on Vera Bradley.com and almost bought  this entire pattern . If you are Vera Bradley shopper you know girlfriend has some nice stuff, but she is hella expensive. So when you can catch a sale you better go for it. After showing a couple of things to Creep I decided to wait until the morning so I could be in the right mind.  I came to work and  showed a couple friends of mine to see what they thought.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THESE GIRLS SAID TO ME?!
And I quote " Alisa that pattern isn't all that cute." "Alisa just because it's on sale doesn't mean you have to buy it."

WHAT YOU MEAN I DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT BECAUSE IT'S ON SALE.
IT'S ON SALE THAT MEANS BUY IT!
My feelings are deeply hurt. And I'm a little confused why I surround myself with such negative people.  I really should re-evaluate my friendships..
My grandmother always told me bad association spoils useful habits. lol

I ended up with just the lunchbox. But if I find the rest of this pattern somewhere I'm buying it.

JMN is 29.

I'll try to find a throwback of him to post.

Music Review+ Adele+ 25

There has been a lot of talk about Adele recently. Especially in the black community. I had a discussion with one of my friends husbands right after 25 was released . He asked me if I liked Adele. I told him yes. Then he asked if I thought she could sing and I said yes. Then he said do you think Adele can sing better than Jazmine Sullivan, Monica, or Brandy. I said no. Then he said my point exactly. Why is everyone praising an artist that has not topped any artist that have been apart of the game for 20 plus years? I told him I have no idea, but I am sure it has to do with the type of music she sings and the markabilty ( {new word} Markability: The ability to market the artist to mass crowds to  receive the most profit) of the artist.

Fast forward to a couple hours later when I was able to go to Target and buy Adele's album. I purchased the Target Deluxe version. From TX to LA I listen to 25 over and over. I love listening to music when I drive. I feel like I get the message clearer. Automatically I liked the album. My friend MaeMae ( shoutout) had already purchased the album and had been listening to it none stop.

There were songs I liked and some I could not live without from that day forward. I sung so much in that 4 hours I had a migraine and no voice when I got home.

Hello broke records! It was the first single to sell over a million copies. That is HUGE. There are albums that don't sell a million so for her single to sell over a million copies is remarkable. That accomplishment is something that should be acknowledge and celebrated  .

Now without taking away from the talent that she has; there are other artist who given the opportunity could sing her music and sound the same or even better. And that's the truth. Honestly, that's the truth in everything any talented individual does. For instance when you hear a remix or remake of a song and people eventually forget who the originally creator was because someone has blown it out the water.

I was hoping that there would a face off. Well maybe some friendly competition after the album came out. Maybe a female R & B artist would hop on the song and either add some lines or just sing it on. But that didn't happen.

                 Love in the Dark

Take your eyes off of me so I can leave
I'm far too ashamed to do it with you watching me
This is never ending, we have been here before
But I can't stay this time 'cause I don't love you anymore
Please stay where you are
Don't come any closer
Don't try to change my mind
I'm being cruel to be kind
I can't love you in the dark
It feels like we're oceans apart
There is so much space between us
Maybe we're already defeated
Ah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah everything changed me
You have given me something that I can't live without
You mustn't underestimate that when you are in doubt
But I don't want to carry on like everything is fine
The longer we ignore it all the more that we will fight
Please don't fall apart
I can't face your breaking heart
I'm trying…

Target Deluxe has 14 tracks+ I like 7/14+ there are no ft., & the  drums on I miss you.

Thick girl Thursday : Serena Williams

Serena Williams

Icon !
You know who she is. I don't even have to go into a spill about all of her accomplishments.
When I think of determination her picture pops into mind. Check out all those muscles! The perfect definition of  a fine fit female!

When life gets real

A month or so ago I saw Kourtney Kardashian on Ellen in this amazing gold ensemble . Not too long after the show  I found her outfit on her app and was super excited to see where it came from . As I scrolled down the post I read about how Kylie bought this outfit for Kourtney for Christmas and I was thinking how sweet. Then I looked at the price . Holy Crap what 18 year old that you know can afford that ?!

Then I realized..... I'm not rich & famous

And this is how I was brought to reality ...

Presents: Valentines Day

Most of you guys are aware that Creep & I send presents to each other for the holiday's, Valentines is no different.  This is what I got this year along with some Face Time. Technology has really bridged the gap.

B.A.M.

I love Sevyn Streeter. On her first EP,  Call me Crazy But, she has a song called B.A.N.S.

Youtube it at your own leisure ( I'm not going to post it because I can't find the clean version)
Basically it talks about a guy she was seeing who is basically a POC ( Piece of crap)

Lately  I have just heard a lot of things about guys I know and the crap their girlfriends/ wives put up with. So I thought I would take to my good old blog and air it out. BTW I've changed BANS to BAMS because there are men from all races who exhibit BA tendencies.

1. Men who don't work or have no desire to work/ or have a job that doesn't even fully support 6.themselves so they rely on their girlfriend or wife to take care of them financially.
2. Men who don't take care of their child/ children.
3. Men who can't grill.
4. Men who don't take the time to learn a new skill.
5. Men who can not communicate in public or private settings.
6. Men who think since they watch porn makes them experienced in navigating the female body.
7. Men who cheat.
8. Men who live on social media.
9. Controlling men.
10. Men who don't own a car.
11. Men on drugs.
12. Men who buy cigars over paying bills.
13. Men with wack sex.
14. Men who don't travel.

I'm sure this could go on and on but this is just a couple things i've observed recently and I find it ridiculous. Men get your lives together !

Low down In the Loo

We all have our things that we do. For instance, I can not drive with shoes on . The only way I can tell whether or not I like a cd I have to take a trip and listen to it over and over. I like to stop the gas pump on .00, .01, .05, or .15 if not I have to go to the next even dollar. We all have strange ticks about ourselves that maybe the avg. person  doesn't know.

When I "go" to the bathroom I like to read. Books, magazines ,air freshener bottles, nail polish, soap labels, basically anything that has words. Minus my phone I hate to text or be on the phone in the Loo. I never answer a phone call in the Loo and if you call back twice I will send you a text telling you I can't speak right now .

So I thought I would share with you some of my favorite articles or readings. I have titled this series: Low down in the Loo.

Music Review+ Selena Gomez+ Revival

Prepare yourself.
I am going to be doing lots of music reviews. I found 3 weeks ago I can rent CDs from the library! Can you believe it!?

Over the years I have heard of Selena Gomez from  Barney to Disney, and of course Justin Bieber's girlfriend. I am sure at some point I might have bobbed my head to some of her music that was on the radio but 2015 is actually when I paid attention to her.
Good for you & Same old love are the current singles. I even remember when her album art was released, everyone made a big deal about it because she was topless . Lots of people compared her to Britney Spears when she was making a distinction of no longer being the pop princess. Selena's album art is very tasteful. Honestly to me she still looks like a baby but hey that's just good genes. Selena is 23, so she is definitely grown and could be doing a lot worse in the world, so if she wants to show off a little back & shoulder then let her.

After listening to the album her beats reminds me of Jennifer Lopez music. Especially the song Body Heat. Some of the ad libs sound like Future. If you are a Rap fan you know exactly what songs I'm talking about. I really like the ASAP Rocky ft. on Good for you. That really surprised me because I hadn't heard it before. When  ASAP Rocky  first started rapping his voice reminded me of the 2000's Kanye.( LOVE Kanye) This album has a lot of emotion which was probably therapeutic for her.  I think Sober & Camouflage is about Justin Bieber. Or maybe that's what she wants us to think.

Favorite songs on the album

Perfect

                        "Perfect"
Different inflection when you say my name
Kiss me, but your kiss don't taste the same
Is it real or am I going out of my mind?
Curious 'bout the company that you keep
Cause I hear you talking 'bout her in your sleep
And now you've got me talking 'bout her in mine

Ooh, and I bet she has it all
Bet she's beautiful like you, like you
And I bet she's got that touch
Makes you fall in love, like you, like you

I can taste her lipstick and see her laying across your chest
I can feel the distance every time you remember her fingertips
Maybe I should be more like her
Maybe I should be more like her
I can taste her lipstick, it's like I'm kissing her, too
And she's perfect
And she's perfect

How does she touch you? Can I try it, too?
I know you're twisted, but baby, I'm twisted, too
I wanna know how she could make a man lose his mind

With the smell of her perfume
I could love her, too, like you, like you
And I can almost hear her laugh
Curving on her back for you, for you

I can taste her lipstick and see her laying across your chest
I can feel the distance every time you remember her fingertips
Maybe I should be more like her
Maybe I should be more like her
I can taste her lipstick, it's like I'm kissing her, too
And she's perfect

I can see her body rushing into you
Crashing on your skin
Burning within, burning so deep, deep
On your skin, skin next to me
She's crashing on your skin
Settling in, burning so deep, deep
On your skin, skin while you sleep, uh

I can taste her lipstick and see her laying across your chest
I can feel the distance every time you remember her fingertips
Maybe I should be more like her
Maybe I should be more like her
I can taste her lipstick, it's like I'm kissing her, too
And she's perfect

On the deluxe album there is 14 tracks. I like 4/14 songs + the 1 ft &  the album art.

What am I going to do?

When I was little I had super long hair. On the weekends I would get it pressed ( I have the burn marks to prove it ) and during the week ever morning I had anywhere from 2-4 ponytails. In about the 5th grade I got a relaxer for the first time . The texture of my hair changed and looking back on it now my hair did not take a relaxer well at all.

When I got to be in charge of my own hair I put it in a ponytail everyday until about 10th grade when I thought I was grown and started wearing my hair down. Somewhere along the line I figured out that I could just wear it curly but I didn't really know what products to use so it looked kinda crazy. I got a lot of flack from people about it. So I gave up and started cutting my hair to under my ears.

CyCy has a lot of hair! I selfishly asked God for her to have hair then I said God that's petty, I'm not going to pray for something like that. But when she came into our care the first thing she said was can you please do my hair? So the next day I tried to brush her hair into a nice ponytail and curled the ends. Then after our running around I washed conditioned and straighten all of it . Whew I'm tired just thinking about it again . After straightening it I noticed that girly had some spilt ends that needed to be taken care of and since I'm not that person I called Regis Salon.  ( no picture )
But guys so far so good. CyCy has been rocking the half up half down, ponytails and buns with a bow for some added flair!

(Pictures reflect the washing, conditioning, straightening process)

CyCy

On Feb 2 we said yes to our first placement. CyCy is a 9 year old girl and oldest of 3. Before we said yes to her we got 6 calls for placements. We only said yes to one other case, which was a sibling case  a 1 & 2 year old boy and girl; but we only wanted one child and they were able to find a home for both of the kids which is great.

I wasn't sure how this was going to workout. And I didn't have any preparation for what would occur. Honestly right before the knock at the door I was on FT talking with Jasmine about random things that happened that week. She kept asking me why are you not freaking out YOU ARE ABOUT TO GET A KID. I didn't have an answer. Personally I had been praying for this moment for awhile now and I had full confidence that God would answer my prayers.

It's been a month since CyCy has been with us. I'm not going to lie I'm tired. I know kids do well with a strict schedule so we've tried our hardest to make sure  we abide by one. We wake up at 7 , handle our bathroom business, there's either fruit or cereal for breakfast, and while I'm combing her hair she has breakfast , and we wait on the bus that comes anywhere from 7:20-7:27. Then I go back to sleep, go to work until 5:15-5:30. Pick her up from after school care. We run whatever errand that we need . Then we take the dogs out , start homework, eat dinner, finish homework, bath, read, then bedtime hopefully by 7:45-830.  I am pooped by then.  It has been hard to find my own groove after that. I am so lucky that my work schedule is  flexible. So I can either get work done after she gets on the school bus or after she gets to bed.  CyCy loves her school and after school care. She has made several friends and she doesn't seem to completely hate living with us.

Now I'm not going to say we haven't had some hard times in this last month. One day we had a several  temper tantrums, and with those came the tears. But that's expected. This experience has definitely given me another look at single mothers and fathers Especially if they have more than one child. GEEZ. It truly takes a village of people to help raise a kid. It's hard occupying someone 24 hours a day and in our case 4 hours during the weekday and all day on the weekend. Thank goodness for grandmas, cousins, my sweet friend Jasmine that send a hair box that included things I didn't even think of, and Amy Hobbs for coming over the night we got her to bring over clothes.( I will have to tell you guys about that in another post)
I cant even begin to tell you guys how perfect CyCy was for our family. It really has instilled my faith  that God has a plan and he puts things in your path and heart for a reason. Also what is for you is for you because of being faithful to him.

Thanks for all the calls, txts, and well wishes guys. We truly appreciate it.
