I was pretty pumped because I love weddings and I love the beach. What I don't love is not being in control. When we go on vacation I am usually the person who makes all the plans. This trip I didn't know anything until the events unfolded.
All I knew was that the wedding was in Destin and the date. No other details. So when we pull up at the hotel that isn't on the beach you can imagine my disgust. Actually there's a picture down below so you can see it for yourself.
We stayed at Summer Place Inn. The employees were nice and the rooms were clean. They had a indoor pool that smelled like Clorox and sex and a small outdoor pool with a hot tub. For some reason we had two double beds which reminded me of medieval times.
When we arrived JMN ran into the grooms brother . So after we put up our stuff we decided to go to the Outlets . When we got there we heard the bride and groom were there also so we tried to meet up with them but they ended up leaving before us and asked us to come to their condo. We rushed from the mall to go to our hotel so we could get our swimsuits for that beach .The groom called and when JMN mention that we were getting our swim suits he said we wouldn't have time for it.
Their condo was really cute. But yall already know what I was looking for. THE BEACH. A bunch of the groomsman's and their families were there and half of them seemed as if they never seen a beach before, and were scared of the water. ( EXHALE) After standing around in the sand the groom announced we would be having rehearsal dinner at Bubba Gump's at 8. At this time it was close to 7. So we left the condo to go back to the hotel and get dressed.
Luckily Bubba Gump's was next door to our hotel. When we arrived about 3 minutes late their was one couple there waiting. The restaurant stated they couldn't sit us until half of the party arrived so we went to sit at the bar. 30 minutes later the groom showed up and we were allowed to go into the party room. At 9:45 the bride and the bridesmaids came in. She had on the most amazing white dress on that I have ever seen. But by this time I was done eating and ready for bed.
At about 10:15/1030 we left Bubba Gump's and went to the hotel to get in bed. At about 11 JMN received a call from the Groom about going out for the night . I was appalled that no one had said anything to him before then. I mean we were both undressed and in bed heading to sleep. But JMN being the sport that he is got up and got dressed to meet his friend for his " last night out."
At 8:30 the next morning there was a knock at the door. The groom was looking for a family member and happened to knock on the wrong door. After that I was basically up for the rest of the morning. JMn went back to sleep and being that I wasn't on the beach, we didn't drive any of my vehicles, and I didn't have a friend here I had no choice but to take advantage of the free cable and gym facility. When I got back to the room JMNs best friend Joe had made it and they were getting ready to go to Wal-Mart. I hopped in the shower because there is no way they were going to leave me in this room. Joe has been in Georgia for about 8 weeks for some type of military training so he came out to visit.
JMN didn't know what time the wedding started so we figured we had a couple of hours to hang out. Went to eat, then we met the groom to do some water sports which took us 45 minutes to get there because the groom wouldn't answer his phone to tell us where. And when we got there he told us we didn't have time to do any sports because JMN needed to be at the wedding at 4:30. After a serious pout fest we went to the beach that's behind the groom and brides condo for 45 minutes.
When we got to the beach there was a serious fog that you couldn't even see 200 feet in front of you. I was thinking I hope their wedding isn't fogged out. At 3 we went back to the hotel. JMN went to get dressed while Joe and I went to swim.
The wedding was beautiful. And there was about 60 guests. The reception was upstairs in their condos reception hall. There was an amazing punch, good food selection and everyone seemed to be having a good time. After the wedding we went to Chilis and back to the hotel to sleep.
The next day we went shopping at their outdoor mall which was so cute. I have never seen such a cute H&M. And to end the rainly day we went to Fridays before we took the long trip back home.
