I bought every album Kanye has dropped. Kanye really delivers a message that I don't think people are paying attention to. Most people who listen to rap are wanting to shake their butts in the club, or trying to disobey their parents. Kanye's music isn't just shake it music. The lyrical content is very relevant to what is happening in society or his life.
Graduation was my favorite album. To this day if reminds me of college. Something about it struck a cord with me.
A couple months ago I was driving to Fl and I popped in a Kanye West CD and one of my friends asked me not to play him because she feels like Kanye brings her close to the devil. I asked why and she told me she thinks his music is devil worshipping . I tried my best to get her to explain to me why she has come to that conclusion but nothing she said convinced me that it was an informed decision .
2 weeks ago I had someone else tell me that he is racist. Because he only picks on white artist .
So I feel like because I'm a supporter of Kanyes music I'm suppose to be able to answer all these questions about why he is this way or that way and honestly I can't .
I feel like Kanye has been in the media negatively and coming up in too many conversations that I'm around. And for the life of me I can not understand why.
I know that to some people all publicity is good publicity but in this case I have not seen so many people who have wanted to discredit and cut down one person in my life time.
I am not saying by any means that Kanye is God and he has not made mistakes. Or he hasn't done a thing or two that is out of the ordinary. But you can say that this man is very passionate about his craft, about his gift of music. He wants everyone to be on even playing grounds and for good music to be praised and give the same chances as others.
Now can you do these things without being on national TV and stealing an award from other artists? Possibly but I don't posses the same thoughts and passion for the things he has so I cant speak to that. And if you don't, you shouldn't either. We all do things that we probably look back on and think man... I shouldn't have done that. We just aren't doing it in the view of millions of people who immediately get on their social media and give their unasked for opinions.
::Disclaimer:: I don't know Kanye West. I am a fan of music. I believe music gives people an eye into their heart and mind. So maybe that's why sometimes I feel like I know the true intent of their actions. Call me weird of whatever but that's just how I feel.
I think "regular" people take whatever they can to separate famous people from the us regular people. So they can magnify their flaws. And that isn't right
Kanye was on my favorite radio show the other day, Power 105.1 The Breakfast Club. He gave the best interview that I have heard in a year or so. Check it out.
Kanye was asked why on KUWTK was his voice different. He responded to something of the effect like "sometimes people don't listen to the angry black man. Its hard to get your point across when people tune you out. Sometimes you have to change in order to really get what you want accomplished." True Story ....
This isn't the best post I've done but it was just something I needed to get off my chest. Stop being so negative people. Give people in the spot light a chance to correct some of the things they do. Embrace differences.
Enjoy!
All falls down
Man I promise, she's so self conscious
She has no idea what she's doing in college
That major that she majored in don't make no money
But she won't drop out, her parents will look at her funny
Now, tell me that ain't insecurrre
The concept of school seems so securrre
Sophmore three yearrrs aint picked a careerrr
She like fuck it, I'll just stay down herre and do hair
Cause that's enough money to buy her a few pairs of new Airs
Cause her baby daddy don't really care
She's so precious with the peer pressure
Couldn't afford a car so she named her daughter Alexus (a Lexus)
She had hair so long that it looked like weave
Then she cut it all off now she look like Eve
And she be dealing with some issues that you can't believe
Single black female addicted to retail and
Heard Em Say
And I heard 'em say, nothin' ever promised tomorrow today
From the Chi, like Tim its the Hard-a-way
So this is in the name of love, like a rob would say
Before you ask me to get a job today,
Can I at least get a raise on a minimum wage?
And I know the Government administered AIDS
So I guess we just pray like the minister say
Allah O'Akbar and throw 'em some hot cars
Things we seen on the screen are not ours
But these niggas from the hood so these dreams not far
Where I'm from, the dope boys is the rock stars
But they can't cop cars without seein' cop cars
I guess they want us all behind bars, I know it
