Where is R& B Music?

Where is R&B ? I love music but recently I have turned off the radio . Why you might ask? 1 live in Northeast Louisiana and the radio stations SUCK. 2 Most of the music that has been out in the last couple of years has not been worth listening to. you know there is a problem when you start repurchasing albums you had in your teenage years and younger . Music today is not the music we had growing up. Now my  complaint is that r&b music is over sexed, unedited, over played, and everyone thinks they can be a singer. The world I grew up in didnt have itunes, youtube, or bit torrent. The only way you were going to get music was to listen to the radio all day and hope that you can get your favorite song recorded on a tape without erasing something you already had on there. Or you bought it at the locally WalMart or Tape World.
So without further ado here are the TOP 20 R&B albums from the 90s.
How many of these people are still relevant in music producing today? ( Music producing- touring, writing music for themselves, appearnces, interviews,LPs,EPs, Mixtapes)

1. Dangelo Brown Sugar 1995

D Angelo is not present in the r&b society today. I think when people are behind the scenes they are money hungry cowards. Sure go ahead and write music for other artists to claim as their own. While you sit in your studio in sweats collecting a check.

Whose momma didnt love Brian McKnight? My momma was shaking and toe tapping anytime this mans voice was playing.
Do you guys know what Mr McKnight is up to these days? You would never believe me if I told you so see for yourself.

The lost of fame does some crazy things to a creative mind . Although Mr McKnight has had much success in the music industry I must ask where are you now sir?

17. 112 Room 112 1998
OMG who didn’t love this Bad Boy Band? They were IT! I was in the 5^th grade when Peach and Cream came out and even though I had no idea what it meant I sung it ALL the time. ( the advantage of having older parents) Then they Anywhere.  They must have been going striaght from their sexcapades to the studio because this was a HIT! I remember sneaking into the livingroom at 2 am to watch this video on UnCUT. So the next banger was Already know. I can’t tell you how many times I have had raunchy sex to that song. I loved it so much I recorded it on a VHS one day while watching 106 & Park on BET. Now that I think of it I wonder why no one ever asked me why I did that. I was not attracted to any of the members but I really enjoyed the song. Why didn’t I just buy the single or something… weird moment?

16. Brandy Never Say Never 1998
Sometimes in life you have an adolescent crush. And in order to get through life you have to have an album that you worship to get through the rejection you received .Remember no one wants to date a fat girl until at least senior year of high school . So my fellow fatties dont worry youre time is coming !  Anywho  Brandy was BIG!  Brandy is and will forever be my favorite r&B artist of all time. Girl just came back into the game real grand like with the release of twoeleven { check it out!}.

15. Monica The Boy is Mine 1998
Monica does this disappearing act. Just when you think she is done she comes back and drops a single to something she decides not to put out in an album. She makes enough noise to let you know that she is relevant and then quietly goes about her business.  I really enjoyed Monica’s past albums.

14. Erykah Badu Baduizm 1997
Badu where are you? Even though I would put Ms. Badu in the Neo- Soul group : you know Jill Scott India Ari Vivian Green Angie Stone ( WHERAE ARE THESE PEOPLE) category so is still an amazing singer. have yall see that video of her and My Morning Jacket? Youtube it!

13. TLC CrazySexyCool 1994
My all-time favorite girl group ever! T Boz- the asthmatic, Chilli- the beautiful cougar, & Left Eye – the hardcore lady rapper God rest her soul. This group had it going on and spreading a positive message to all of their listeners. ( safe sex) This group could not survive after the tragic death of Lisa Left Eye Lopez. There was not enough of recorded material for all of them to put forth other cds. T- boz and Chilli even tried searching for another member to replace her but the search was not successful

12. Whitney Houston Greatest Hits 2000
Yes I’m aware this album came out in 2000 but how can you say no to Whitney Houston. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE me some Whitney . I walked down the aisle with scary Croc tears to I Believe in You & Me. This woman is amazing and can bring up emotions that you didn’t even know you had. I grew up on her music and I appreciate all that she has done for R&B. Sadly February 12 2012 Whitney lost the fight of being able to cope with the music industry /lime light. You know what kills me the most about this is that people wanted to continue to tear this woman down. As regular people we think money heals everything . In most situations it does nothing but make it worse. Being in the public eye is probably the worst lifestyle I could imagine.
