This summer I watched an interview with Jill Scott. I am sure many of you know her from her amazing voice and some of her acting roles. I haven't been immersed in Jill Scott culture but this interview made me think I need to listen to her music and interviews more because she has thoughts and knowledge I'd take in.
The part of this interview I loved the most was when they spoke about Bill Cosby. I know there has been a lot of controversy about the alleged accusations with women over the years. Bill Cosby has been a great asset & mentor to the community psh who am I kidding to the culture . He has done a lot of work with the youth,given back a lot to his personal community, as well as receiving honorary mentions from many prestigious colleges.
Heathcliff Huxtable is a character that influenced/ influencing many people. Sometimes people do not know how to separate the two. If he did harm anyone yes he should be punished for his actions. There needs to be proof. But that does not mean that we should destroy everything this man has worked hard for. The Cosby Show is still sending out important messages . And Bill Cosby is not the only person benefiting from the show being played.
This year alone there has been several other actors that have been caught participating in disgraceful acts and nothing was done. They still pretty much have their dignity, recognition, and their shows still play on serval networks. What message are we sending out?
