Yeezy Season 3

During NYFW Kanye showed off his Yeezy Season 3 collection. I am a Kanye West fan. I got Tidal just to listen to The Life of Pablo. When I saw that his fashion show was on Tidal I watched the entire event.

High fashion isn't normally something that catches my eye. But I just needed to see for myself what his collection was about.

Highlights of the show-

Book Review+ The Grown Up+ Gillan Flynn

I am a Gillan Flynn fan. After I read Dark Places, Gone Girl, and Sharp Objects, I had to read the next book.  I got The Grownup as a book on tape from my local library. When I open the case I realized that there was only one cd. I double checked with the librarian to make sure it wasn't missing anything. But this book is only an hour and a half. I was thinking what plot am I going to get to in such a short time.  The book ended up being good. I wish there was more to it. I want to know what happens next. So its kind of ends undone.

Music Review+ LoveJo2+ JoJo

There is nothing more irritating than to not be able to purchase music . Especially when its an artist you have been waiting to just drown yourself in their music  . If you frequent my blog you have come across a JoJo post. I love JoJo. And now that she has gotten situated with her new record label I expected her to just spit out music and get this thing going.  I know things don't work that way so I need to be more patient.

In December Jojo put out LoveJo2. This is the third mixtape she's put out. The first one I have been unable to access, I am still listening to the second as apart of my life's go to album. The third you can only listen to on Soundcloud. But I signed up just so I can put her on repeat.

I love remixes and remakes and JoJo never disappoints. I have been on youtube watching all the footage from her I am JoJo tour . I even tweeted to Jojo about releasing these tracks for purchase which is Huge for me because I never tweet.

Las Vegas Residency

Mardi Gras : Northeast LA

We're cute, I know.

Mardi Gras was the first week of Feb. I think.

So our office has been on the parade route for 2 years now. Let me tell you. We are VIP. We had a cook out in our parking alley, and then had the front of our building roped off  so we were the only ones that could stand there. There were people trying to pull down our section and we politely told them to buzz off!

Gonzales, LA: Quaker Steak & Lube

While we were down south we went to Gonzales  to shop at Tanger Outlets. Of course shopping works up your appetite so we went in search of food and found Quaker Steak & Lube. This restaurant was right up our alley. JMN even said he saw this restaurant chain on the Food network. So you know he was super excited.

The inside was super cool. We made it just in time for 2 for 1 Margaritas! MANGO PLEASE.
JMN really liked his food and so did I!

If you are in Gonzales or live near a Quaker Steak and Lube check it out! You will not be disappointed

Updated: Lorelai Gray was born without a fuss on April 4th around 9 am. The precious little chunk is doing well! Welcome to world girlie!

Presents: Macbook

I bought myself a MacBook.

Couple months ago a girl I work with  got one for her birthday. It was love at first sight. After that  I kept thinking about it.  I even found myself looking at it online , trying to build one on the Apple site, I even told JMN about it. At this point I had just gotten rid of my 2009 Dell laptop, I had a desktop that I bought used from an old Deli mate in 2012, an iPad mini, JMN's HP laptop, and my phone. I was trying to talk myself out of it because I had other options.  

I will admit that I did not know how to work a Mac. The only time I ever used one was in college. I had a class in Stubbs that had a Mac lab. I went in there maybe 3 times to print something for class and I was beyond confused. So when I got it I had to ask some friends to teach me how to operate the thing. It's been great to use for work. I love how light weigh it is. PLUS you guys know I love gold. It's also been a pretty good conversation piece. 

The only thing I wish that I could change about it is more USB ports. Sometimes it sucks because I cannot charge it and my phone at the same time. I'll even mention that it doesn't have a disk drive. But I know using disks are really on the way out of technology. 

I even got it $300 off. Thanks to a good ole Best Buy sale.  

I've had it now for about 5 months now and I use it everyday.

Music Review+ T R A P S O U L + Bryson Tiller

If you know me I treat new artist/ new music the same way I treat new people in my life. I usually put them off until I have to deal with them. And even then I am skeptical, taking it as slow as possible. {Unless its a guy } kidding..

It is not often that I talk about new artists. But Bryson Tiller is worthy of praise. His album cover to cover is a good body of work. I feel like the title of his album T R A P S O U L should be a genre not just an album title.  Clearly I don't relate to much of anything that he talks about on his album but I have been right along with it since October.

Parenting Struggles

Several times a week I get asked  how is parenting going?  and I smile and say Good. Life is good.  Haven't you guys heard of faking it to you make it? Nah.  Life is good. Being a " parent" is great. Almost everything I thought it would be. Probably the best thing I've done in my life. My friend, Libby, described it as putting good back into the world. That sounds like some real noble stuff. I've really enjoyed the new environment I'm in. Meeting teachers, principals, teaching a kid how to be sweet to others, taking up for someone who cant really take up for themselves.

What's been the most interesting is watching CyCy adapt to our world. Learning our schedule, the places we frequent, what we do for rewards, spending time with family and my favorite so far is her meeting my friends. I like to hear what she thinks about them when they leave. So far she is in love with Jasmine and Amy. 

A couple weeks ago CyCy said Ms. Alisa do you have friends? Offended I answered yes why? She replied with another question. Do they ever come over? I said yea sometimes. Then she said well I haven't really met your friends. I hear you talk about some but I'm not sure their real. I replied of course their real. Adults don't have imaginary friends.

That conversation really stuck with me. I have some solid friendships and some not so solid friendships. Recently i realized when confronted with the truth people get scarce. I've heard some of my friends talk about it before. Oh wait until you have kids you will see who is really your friend and who isn't. I would laugh and say I have good people around me . 

I mentioned to a group of friends that I felt like I hadn't been supported since getting CyCy. Oh boy did the claws come out.  I was basically accosted for not broadcasting CyCy to the world. Technically you guys ( my fellow creepers) are the world and I wrote here before I even told some of my family members.  I had to have a real discussion with a friend that I've known for almost 4 years. A good friend, but when I said that we literally stopped talking for 2 weeks . I had to ask her  to talk with her to figure out why our relationship changed.  The only explanation she could give was she wasn't sure if I wanted her to be apart of CyCy's life. Although I was there through not 1 but 2 of her pregnancies.  I just can not believe that was even said to me. 

Then I was asked by someone else  if I was angry or stressed because I hadn't been myself. ( insert wide eyed emoji) Besides the work that I have piling up on my desk, family stress, a flood, being sick for weeks, and just not feeling cared about I am  pissed off . Why on earth would I be myself ?

I am experiencing literally a dream that I have had since I was 10 years old. No idea why this was put in my heart at that age but I have a journal that talks about the things I want to do when I am a grown up and I said adopt a  little girl with a list of things I wanted to do with her. (Although we arent adopting but close enough.) I thought I was going to be able to share this moment with my family and my closest friends and now the present is showing me otherwise. 

We started going to this new church this last month and the pastor was talking about judgement day and what God could possibly say to us once that day has arrived.

It really struck me and I do a lot of things that are not like a person who walks with him. And I have got to stop perusing my own agendas and  regardless of  how things bother me I have to treat others how he would and if that is returned than great and if it is not than just know that I tried .

Music Review+ Fan of a Fan+ Chris Brown & Tyga

Despite Chris Brown's past he is undeniably talented. Which is why I continue to support his music. I am not 100% sure the meaning behind this album. I think I was too confused by his hair  and the album art. The album art reminds me of Kris Kross. Also when this album came out the only thing I knew about Tyga was he was on Young Money. Nothing else about him mattered. So I was not sure why Chris picked Tyga to make an album with. You know what, I take that back Tyga has been on some of his previous mixtapes. Tyga was on Deuces and if I am not mistaken that song won a Grammy.  

Lyrically Chris Brown is better than most rappers. The beats on his songs make you want to get up and dance, have sex, then sleep. What else do you want from an artist?

I wish more singles would have been released. Bunkin is my favorite song on the album.

Music Review+ Hard Core+ Lil Kim

It's funny when you go back and listen to music from when you were a child. I didn't listen to Lil Kim as a kid. I honestly don't remember this album being played at all on the radio. The only song I can remember is Crush on you thanks to MTV. So one day I was on YouTube watching a 90's interview on Klassic Throwback and there was Missy Elliot,  Foxy Brown, Angie Martinez, and Lil Kim.  I went to Amazon and bought all of her albums. Don't worry I will space out all of the reviews.  

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM AROUND CHILDREN.

Just by the title I guess you can infer that it is going to be a little inappropriate. I apparently was not prepared. The intro is genius . I'm not going to ruin it for you. It is refreshing to hear a woman speak all the things that men put in their raps all the time. I wish their were more female rappers.

Also thank you Lil Kim for the interludes. New York culture is undeniable.
