Natural or Nah ?

A couple months ago I decided I was going to try and go natural . I spent half of a day you-tubing natural techniques and products to use .

I got my first perm ( relaxer) when I was in the 7th grade . My parents got tired of me whining when I would get my hair pressed and frankly I was tired if getting my ears burned every week .

The texture of my hair and the condition if my scalp changed . I remember having more dandruff . Actually I didn't even know what dandruff was. My parents weren't that great about my ends being cut and I had no idea how to do my hair besides putting it in a ponytail .

Fast forward to senior year of high school when I fell in love with getting my hair flat ironed by a professional . With every visit I would get a bit of my ends cut due to the damage/ beatings they took.
I got a hair cut in 2006 that was right above my ears . And by graduation it was back to my shoulders.  Every 6 months I was sitting in the chair.

On my 19th birthday  I went to my normal salon to get it cut but they were closed . I went down to a neighboring salon thinking all stylist are equal . The woman cut ALL of my hair off. I looked like a shaved puppy . I was in tears and couldn't believe how bad she did me. I ended up paying and leaving in tears because I couldn't even make words to express what was going on.

That summer I went through a hair depression . I decided to press my hair and went without a perm for 2 months . bad idea.  for someone who has hair and don't really know what to do with it to someone without hair and really doesn't know what to do with it .

Any-who like hair does it grew back ! I started seeing this lady name Mrs Theresa. Her magical hands treated my broken ends. She made me trust her and then she moved ...... Story of my freaking  life.

About this time my friend Jasmine decided to go natural . She has beautiful thick hair and a fro anyone would be jealous of. But I just couldn't see myself without a perm . I mean my hair looks it's absolute best the first 2 weeks after it. How could I give up on 2 weeks of smooth/shiny hair ?

My hair went through hard time . Somehow I started to develop a spot in my head that would grow but drastic break off . I took biotin, I went to my dermatologist , I changed relaxers, I even went to a beautician, and got my very first weave . ( couldn't handle it I lasted a week)

The Salon I frequent at gave me shampoos and deep conditioners to try to help my hair grow . I had some trial and error . But the best thing for me not to feel self conscious about my spot and slowly cut my hair so it would match that other side .

Geez this is getting lengthy.

March 1 was my last relaxer .Then I got a hair cut that included a banging bang , and basically a inch and a half of hair in the back and a bit of red coloring . My hair cut reminded me of T- Boz from TLC. You can read about that here

I decided with the extra push from a co owner that I was going to cut off the rest of my straight ends . And wear my hair curly/ wavy. I have watched natural hair styles, product reviews ,
texture tutorials, and why people have decided to wait as opposed to "the big chop".

Last Saturday I went back to the place that I had such a bad experience in trying to face past fear. ( also they had the polish I've been looking for woot) The stylist was very nice and she took it slow and cut off a GOOD BIT of my hair . And I didn't cry !!!!

Go me !
