Let me tell you guys a story.
I had my brand new car for about 2 weeks and I was super excited to take it for a long drive. I hadn't really gotten use to how to operate it . And it was really fast. Just a little tap of the accelerator it would go wayyy faster than my truck.
Long story and excuses later - I got pulled over for speeding . 60 in a 45 mby ? You know when your going thru small towns you have to pay attention to the signs bc they change quicker than Nicky Minaj changes hair styles.
My passenger had been annoying me for some time now and when the red lights flashed behind us it just increased her chatter . So I'm frustrated, I'm getting a ticket, and I'm pissed at my passenger, my car, and the fact we just went through a really bad storm .
The ticket had to be paid by the 1st of April it was $100 and something dollars. I live in an alternate universe and do not have checks so I went to my favorite university gas station and bought a money order . Filled it out stuffed the stub in a wallet I had at the time and sent it on March 26.
Fast forward to July i received a letter in the mail stating that my license will be suspended . I am freaking out ! I had a hectic day at work long meeting and I come home to this mess in the mail. I have never received anything certified and this important . I drive for a living so having my license is really important . Plus I care about what's on my record.
The next day I called V Police spoke to a Ms Brown , thought I got everything squared away . I asked for a piece of paper confirming my innocence . She told me she would send a copy to the dmv .
In Aug I got another ticket in my car for speeding 72 in 55. Paid it no problems .
Then October I'm leaving from a clients house I'm kind if lost and I think I'm farther out in town that I really am. There is no speed signs anywhere. So I think to myself I must be on the highway which is 65. I start speeding up and guess what happens lights . I'm the dummy that slows down instead of speeding up . I could have clearly gotten away from him. Then I past the speed sign and notice that I am not in 65 I'm in a 50.
I get pulled over, there was a nice officer who tells me I'm going 64/50 . But also informs me that my license is suspended and he could take me to jail. I guess he saw the panic in my eyes bc I almost died from shock. Jail ? Me? What did I do ? Why do I have a suspended license ? Where did that come from ! He couldn't tell me but he wrote me a citation and told me to keep kicking at a slow pace. I call my other client and cancel and I look up vidalia police station and talk to Ms Brown.
She doesn't remember who I am and tells me she is closing in 10mins . She is going to give me 15 to get to my house to send her a picture of the information she sent me . So you know that means I have to speed to my house and tear up my office looking for a letter she sent to me . After about an hour back and forth on the phone . Ms Brown informs me that my ticket was coded incorrectly into their system . She was sending me an official letter about the mistake , and something to take to the DMV.
I go to the DMV and the lady had NO remorse for the situation I was in . She said this happens all the time 😳Bitch what ? Y'all arrest and fuck over people all the time ? I'm soo confused why. ?
At this point I'm pissed . I'm going on a vacation for my birthday. I didn't even look on the ticket to see when my court date is to have the suspended portion of my ticket removed. When I came back from my trip and remember to look it's Nov 24 And plain as day on the ticket it reads 11/12/13
I'm am once again having a heart attack about this ticket . The next morning I awake up at 7 am and started calling everyone in Morehouse parish. The court house doesn't open until 830. I'm pretty sure I was the first call and the receptionist informs me that that date was incorrect and court is in December. THANK GOD!
I go to court all prepared and fancy. I look around and realize i am def a fish out of water. I brought all my paperwork and I am Ready to get this mess over with!
But all the judge wanted to hear was guilty - not guilty . I plead not guilty and was given another date of 1.6.14
I returned to court after a glorious weekend in Orange Beach AL READ HERE . The officers in the court are super sweet and one of them flat out asks me why am I here. I give him a short synopsis as to why and his response is "baby slow down" (side eye). This court situation was CRAZY. Majority of the charges were drug related, stalker chargers, and driving without a license. When it got to me the DA Devin was very nice and he seemed to understand what happened and told me that it happened all the time in these smaller cities but people never keep up with their paperwork, or follow up to prove anything. He told me he would dismiss my suspension and i had until March 17 to pay my speeding ticket. I thanked him and went about my business. I was glad that i had documentation and proved i was innocent in this situation. But i bit of me wanted to get my speeding ticket completely removed. ( cant blame a girl for trying?)
Two weeks ago i come home from another hectic day at work ( Work has been real crazy lately) and I have another piece of certified mail. This one stating that on 2/23/14 my license will be suspended for 365 days for driving under suspension. Here goes my blood pressure again! Its after 4 i cant call anyone the only person who is getting an ear full is JMN. I am thinking is this ever going to end??
The next morning I call back to Ms. Brown and all i want to do is cuss her out. Because once again she doesn't remember me and she tells me that basically this is all my fault. Instead i hung up and called the state which the state told me i needed to contact Morehouse Parish Police. When i did that the receptionist told me there was nothing she could do. ( insert cuss words) This happens to be during our ice storms and I am risking my life to drive to Bastrop and get this done .
On Friday Valentines I got to bastrop ( after the ice has melted) stand 45 minutes in the DA office and finally get a letter stating my suspension is dismissed. She told me i must take this to my DMV and have it cleared.
I forgot to add another reason why it was so important i got this taken care of in a timely matter is because I am going to Disney with my niece Madison in May . And i needed to get her a copy of my license to her before Monday. She called to tell me this on Wed (Wed and Thursday were ice days) and Monday is a holiday so TODAY Friday 2/14 is the only day i had to get it DONE!
Friday 2/21 ( over a year now) i go to the DMV.
There were NO tickets to even take! There were over 100 ppl in the building and no chairs to sit in. I repeat NO chairs to sit in. Over 100 people in the building. After 20 minutes of walking in and out trying to call the state which didn't have any room of me to hold. I came inside to an employee handing out new tickets . I went outside and grabbed my phone charger ( lucky I had it) and popped a squat Indian style against a wall on the opposite side of the room. My number was A11 and they were on J2.
My bFF and husband were in town they love me so much that they bought me lunch.I got to explain to them the struggles that is my life . I got to the DMV about ehh 11ish . It was now about 1:45. I got brave and decided to drive to WM and check out their DMV. I should have known since the parking lot was full there was a wait. They were on B10 and the ticket i pulled was E50. Back to my original spot i go..
When i arrived back it seemed like momentum had picked up. They were on 89. The room had ever more people in it waiting and it was almost 3 . Finally my number was called . I felt like i had been chosen to compete in an Olympic sport.
I had ALL of my documentation and explained to the lady my situation and i needed my license cleared. She told me it would be $63 and I lost my shit. She had to call over another rep and after 40 minutes, copies of all of information, me on the verge of tears, a heart attack and a nervous breakdown they deleted it from the system. After seconds of relief i triple checked with the rep to make sure i do not have anything else on my record besides tickets. And that is when she informed me of a improper use of equipment violation that will be on my record for 5 years.
I explain all of this to say. KEEP UP WITH YOUR PAPERWORK - TRIPLE CHECK ALL YOUR SHIT-
It seems as though it is taking more time to keep myself innocent than actually committing a crime or something. I am beyond frustrated that i still have to DO MORE to get this off of my license.
